Dieses Ja-Nein-Kauri-Orakel stammt aus Benin und ist Teil einer dort überlieferten Divinationspraxis. Um das Orakel zu befragen, stellt ein „Fragender“ die Kalebasse mit den Kauris nach oben auf eine flache Unterlage und lässt sie dann los. Die Kalebasse mit den Kauris wird umfallen und die Kauris werden mit geöffneter oder geschlossener Seite fallen. Das Ergebnis wird dann wie folgt interpretiert.

This ‘yes-no’ cowrie shell oracle originates from Benin and forms part of a traditional divination practice practised there. To consult the oracle, the ‘questioner’ places the calabash containing the cowrie shells upright on a flat surface and then lets it go. The calabash containing the kauri shells will tip over, and the shells will land with either the open or closed side facing upwards. The result is then interpreted as follows.

4 Open = YES,

4 Closed = NO,

3 Open 1 Closed = NO,

2 Open 2 Closed = YES ,

1 Open 3 Closed = NO.
